Impulse Control Freaks is a performance group based in Philly.

We start with sketch comedy and string ‘em together to make plays that are funny before you even show up.

We’re nerds for deep lore and love nothing more than committing fully to the bit.

Life is hard enough as it is. A night out at a live show should be a goodass time.

Freaks rise up.

The Freaks

ANDREW BEAL
Lead Director

Andrew is allegedly not an improviser, but has a storied track record as writer and director of delightful obscenities. He weekends as a barista who actually know was a cortado is. His work delicately balances existential dread and blissful ignorance. This FREAK goes absolutely nuts for his stay-at-home cat, who is named after an egg dish!

CHAZ T. MARTIN
Lead Writer

Chaz is a writer, dramaturg, and all-purpose ham who daylights as Literary and Development Manager at InterAct Theatre Company. They’re one of Philadelphia’s premiere emerging Gym Rats, and not to brag but their legs are like really strong. They are best known as the human at the other end of their dog’s leash. Feel free to assume that this FREAK is the biker you’re annoyed at while driving.

KEL FLEMING
PM/TD/ETC

Kel is many things, and resting is not one of them. They are currently up to no good (doing great work) at the Academy of Vocal Arts while also trying to get Andrew to adopt GCal as a lifestyle. Kel is obsessed with their cat, Penny. Do not ask them about it unless you have 30 minutes. Freak.

Oskar Wilander

Oskar is a washed up one-time Improviser and the only real personality hire. He was brought on for his intimate knowledge of the Corporate workspace. By day, he increases shareholder value through his pivotal role in marketing. By night, he’s here I guess.

As seen in Personality Hires Sketch Play (and Retirement Party for Kevin in Legal).

Gauri Mangala

Gauri is a producer and writer for theatre who gaslights as Associate Producer at Broadway & Beyond Theatricals in New York City (wow). She is a proud craftswoman with the hobbies of Betsy Ross: knitting, crocheting, probably crosstitching, all that! She lives in the suburbs by choice. FREAK.

August Hakvaag

(they/them) is a butch theatre artist currently based in Philadelphia, PA. They received a BA in Theatre, Concentration in Acting, and a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies from Temple University. They were a Princess Grace Fellowship Award semi-finalist, a Susan Smith Blackburn Prize nominee, and is a proud member of the Ring of Keys Collective. They have worked internationally as an actor, director, and playwright. Highlights include working with Moxie Arts NY, 24 Hour Plays, The Twenty Sided Tavern, Richmond Triangle Players, Theatre Exile, Tokyo International Players, and Aporia Artists Collective, of which they are a founding member. When they aren't immersed in theater, they're probably playing TTRPGS.
